Grover Norquist: “North Carolina is changing the world!”
Earlier this week, Americans for Tax Reform President Grover Norquist spoke to a packed room of supporters at CLC’s annual dinner. In a rousing speech defending capitalism, the free market, and his signature issue, tax reform, Norquist told those in attendance how North Carolina’s steady advancement of conservative reforms is a great example to other states.
“North Carolina has limited government spending, reduced personal and corporate income taxes, and delivered revenue surpluses every year,” said Norquist. “When I go to other states and they ask what they should do, I tell them about North Carolina. They want to do what North Carolina has done. They should listen to you, you’re changing the world.”
Indeed, North Carolina has high ranks in terms of being competitive: Forbes rates our state the #1 overall for business while having the best tax climate than any of our neighboring states.
Norquist finished by saying there was a lot riding on North Carolina’s success – other states are moving in the right direction, and North Carolina needs to continue its successful approach.
Passing common sense reforms, like those in the 2019-20 budget, will help our state continue to prosper.
